Winona-Ryder
Winona Ryder is the professionally-known name of Winona Laura Hoowitz, born within Winona Minnesota. Her parents named her for her hometown. Michel Horowitz' father was editor and author and editor, as was Cynthia Palmer and her mother. Ryder's parents also happen to be Jewish. Ryder believes herself to be Jewish. Uria is Ryder's younger brother. Jubal, Sunyata and Sunyata are her half-siblings. Ryder's parents moved her along with her siblings into Mendocino County California when Ryder reached seven. There, they didn't have electricity. Ryder, who was an avid reader at the age of 12 became a book worm due to the fact that Ryder was not able to access television. Ryder began taking acting lessons in the American Conservatory Theatre in 1983 at the age of 12. In 1986, she got her first role on the big screen in the movie Lucas at just 15 years old. Ryder suffered bullying in her high school. Her hope was that acting might change the situation. Unfortunately that didn't come to pass. But she continued to pursue her goal. In 1988, she received her big break in Tim Burton's Beetlejuice. Ryder played parts that proved successful in various films. In 1993, she received an Oscar Award for The Age of Innocence.
