April Ross

April Ross was one of only a few women beach volleyball players who have won medals during more than one Olympics. Alix Klineman is a new Olympian and is set to join the team in Tokyo. Ross hopes to win more than her first Olympic medal. Since she's 39 years old and has a long way to go, this could be her last chance. However, she is convinced of winning top awards. If we perform at our very best or even if we play well I feel like we can get that gold medal Ross said via NBC Boston. Also, I am going be relying on a little bit of luck. Ross was born in 1982, and grew up within Costa Mesa California with her siblings and parents, started competing in athletics at Newport Harbor High School. While at Newport Harbor High School, she was a participant in many activities. Apart from playing indoor volleyball, she also ran track and basketball as a pre-collegiate athlete. She was clearly the best at the sport of indoor volleyball. In her time at high school, she was a middle blocker outside setter and hitter on the volleyball court, according to her college bio. To honor her achievements she was awarded the Gatorade Award for National Player 1999. Her volleyball skills also brought her an Orange County Athlete of the Years trophy in the year 2000. Ross and Klineman have been continuing to play from 2017. However, Ross was an important player in the beach volleyball scene before joining the duo. She has won numerous tournaments, including one with the legendary player of volleyball. From 2007 to 2013, she was partnered with Jennifer Kessy, who is the coach she is currently. Ross, the teammate of Kessy's, who won the world title together with Kessy in 2009 was also significant on the world stage. The duo would go on to win a silver in the 2012 Olympic Games at London. Misty May Treanor and Kerri Jennings the legendary team which was the winners of the 2012 Olympics in London, edged their opponents to claim the gold. Ross Jennings took over for May-Treanor when she retired. The team won bronze in beach volleyball at Rio Olympics 2016. Ross was a player for the Trojans at USC during her college after graduating from high school. The time she spent at USC was awe-inspiring. In 2000, as a freshman she fought her way to Pac-10 as well as NCAA The Freshman of the Year accolades. She also was an All-American. She also helped the Trojans to make it to their first Final Four. She suffered a devastating personal loss in her sophomore year however she was able to return her place as an All-American. Over the course of the two years she played for the Trojans they helped to win two consecutive titles. Her individual achievements have cemented her status as a legend in volleyball. Ross was awarded the Honda Sports Award 2003-04 for the top female NCAA player. Ross majored at USC in International Relations. Margie Ross never saw her daughter reach the top in beach volleyball. Ross's mother passed away from breast cancer while she was in her sophomore year at USC. Her mother is still dear. Margie is a source of inspiration throughout her life, as well as on the beaches.
